Dr. Ajith Amarasinghe's book, "Finding Sinhabahu," provides compelling evidence supporting the historical authenticity of the legend of King Sinhabahu and his son Vijaya, the first king of the Sinhalese people in Sri Lanka. By drawing from ancient inscriptions and recent scientific research, the book challenges the belief that this story is purely mythical. The key findings, including inscriptions from the Kalinga region of India and multidisciplinary evidence, suggest that the Yakkas mentioned in ancient chronicles may have been ancestors of the Vadda tribes in Sri Lanka. Dr. Amarasinghe argues that the Sinhala race emerged through the intermingling of these indigenous Vadda tribes and East Indian migrants led by Vijaya. "Finding Sinhabahu" sheds new light on the early history of Sri Lanka and its rich and complex heritage.
