NHRC Seated Buddha Statue - Galvihara - Polonnaruwa

(SKU: LSB100C122) This Buddha statue stands 4.6 metres (15 feet, 2.5 inches) tall in a massive artificial cave called Vijjadharaguha in Galvihara, Polonnaruwa. It is widely recognised that the artistically carved Vijjadharaguha Buddha statue is one of the most outstanding specimens of sitting rock sculptures in all of Asia. The rock has been cut back by 5 metres (17 feet) for the shrine of this incredible Buddha statue. The well-known meditation gesture, known as Samadhi Mudra or Dhyana Mudra, is represented in the sculpture. In this gesture, both hands are placed on the lap, with the right hand resting on top of the left and all of the fingers completely stretched.
