Ride into the Knuckles Range to the remote village of Meemure on this private mountain-bike tour. You start at 7:00 am in Hunnasgiriya town, 42 km from Kandy, where your bike, helmet and water bottles are ready and your cycling guide manages the route throughout. The full route is about 70 km, 35 km each way, over mixed and mostly uphill terrain, with a difficulty rated average to hard. Quiet roads and trails lead through tea estates where pluckers start their day in the morning mist.
After about 8 km you reach the Deanston peak of the Knuckles Range, where you leave the bikes and hike 3 km up to Mini World's End for sweeping views over the countryside. Back on the bikes you continue to Meemure, a traditional, self-sufficient village of green and golden paddy fields and vegetable gardens a few kilometres from the wildlife office, and spend time chatting with the villagers about their way of life. Mountain bikes and helmets, your cycling guide, the wildlife entrance ticket for the Knuckles-Deanston World's End trek, a trekking guide, water and refreshments, two 500 ml bottles of water for the trek and insurance cover of up to USD 2,000 are included. The tour is private and the minimum age is 13. Hotel pick-up and drop-off, food and gratuities are not included.
