Built around the 3rd century BC, the Tissa Lake is a massive artificial reservoir which is currently a part of the regional network of irrigation canals that nourish the vegetation in Anuradhapura. The peaceful surroundings of the first capital city which was once ruled by the mighty kings of Sri Lanka can be visibly seen while the calmness when you enjoy a boat ride is indescribable. The native birds and local flora and fauna can be witnessed while you can see the villagers getting along with their day to day routines.
