英国植民地時代に任命されたムダリ（地方の高官）がこのコーラム（喜劇）ダンスの創作にインスピレーションを与えました。ムダリ・コーラマ（田舎の公式喜劇）に使われた詩は次のとおりです:-

  • オフィスの重荷を背負って
  • 輝くベルトを着けて彼の重要性を示す
  • 剣を持ち、輝く黒いコートを着て
  • 金や宝石をセットした装飾品で身を飾る

    • ムダリ（役人）のマスクには、政府役人の傲慢さと重要性を示すために彫刻が施されています。マスクは頭にコームを取り付けたものと付けないものを作成しました。上唇の上と口の両端の周りには、ねじれて両側に曲がった口ひげがあり、顔の両側には頬が膨らんでいます。これらの手段によって、非常に威厳と重要性のある外観が描かれます。アンバランゴダ、ヒレワッテ、グナダサ舞踊団のムダリのマスクは四角い形をしていますが、一般にこれは他の舞踊団の作品には見られません。

    マスクのカラーリングでは、白色に着色したものと黄色に着色したものがあります。

    ムダリ（役人）の後ろに来るのはヘンチャ（子分）という名前の男で、ムダリの頭の上にヤシの葉の上にタリポットをかざしています。ゴナポーラ・バランゴダ・コーラム・クッタマ（喜劇舞踊一座）では子分の顔は灰色で大きなニキビが描かれているが、アンバランゴダ・ウィジェスーリヤ・コーラム・クッタマ（舞踊一座）では子分の顔に茶色のジャガラト・トッピヤ（漫画の帽子）が描かれている。が作成されました。この顔は、政府に忠実すぎる人物の性格を表しており、謙虚すぎて身がすくんでしまいます。これら 2 人の人物のマスクは、今日の社会の支配階級に関連しています。

    5. Masks are made from acrylic paint on goda kaduru (strychnine tree) wood.
    6. All masks are to be used as home decor items and not to wear for traditional kolam dancing. If you require wearable masks, you will need to order a specific type with spaces / gaps for the mouth, eyes and proper breathing. Custom made wearable masks can be ordered separately upon request and proper measurement.
