1 Tag in Negombo

Upon arrival, you will be directed to your hotel in Negombo where you can relax before your travelling begins. Negombo is a beachside resort town that is much loved by many due to its proximity to Colombo as well as the airport. The city is known for its vibrant culture, fishing harbor, golden beaches as well as the water sports.

After arrival at the Colombo Airport, you will be picked up from the Airport by your Chauffeur Guide from Lakpura. After the introductions, you will be escorted by air-conditioned private vehicle to your hotel in Negombo.

2 Days in Anuradhapura

Your Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour will start off in Anuradhapura which was the center for Theravada Buddhism for many centuries. Now it is a major Buddhist pilgrimage site with many ruins of ancient temples and newly renovated ones. Then you will visit Mihintale, and the ancient city of Polonnaruwa which is the second ancient capital of Sri Lanka.

Walk through the ancient ruined city of Anuradhapura, which was the capital for over a millennium until the 10th century AD. View the pagodas, monastic buildings and ponds that are scatter all over the vast area. Visit important landmarks such as Jetavanarama, which was one of the tallest buildings of the ancient world, the Sri Maha Bodhi and the ruins of the huge Abhayagiri Monastery. Gain more knowledge about Sri Lanka’s history as you walk in the footsteps of Kings. On completion return back to your hotel and relax.

Mihintale

Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is now a pilgrimage site, and the site of several religious monuments and abandoned structures.

Visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa

Visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, which was the second major capital of Sri Lanka. Walk through the ruins of the city that flourished between the 10th to the 13th century AD. View important monuments such as Gal Vihara, Vatadage, the lotus bath, Lankathilaka Temple and the statue of King Parakramabahu whose reign was considered the golden age of Polonnaruwa. 2 Tage in Dambulla

Then, enroute to Dambulla we will drop by at a spice garden where you will be educated on the Sri Lankan spices and Ayurvedic medicine. James Taylor was a British citizen who introduced commercial tea plantation in Sri Lanka (Ceylon). He arrived to Sri Lanka in 1852 and settled down in Loolecondera estate in Kandy. Today even people who have never heard of Sri Lanka are familiar with Ceylon tea, which is known for its quality.

From Nuwara Eliya, we head towards the Udawalawe National Park that acts as a sanctuary for wild animals that have been displaced during the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir.
