A site of historical importance and natural splendour, Sigiriya Rock Fortress and its surrounding nature reserve has a well-balanced ecosystem which attracts many life forms including butterflies. With Lakpura, you can experience a butterfly watching while exploring the old ruins and gardens of Sigiriya. You can see a peak in numbers during the South Western and North Eastern Monsoon while many of the species are seen around foothills. Since Sigiriya mainly boasts of a dry habitat, you can see about 20 species that are restricted to these areas alone.
