Experience:

You will begin your Hingula Village Safari at the entrance of the village, where you’ll be welcomed by your local guide for the day. The experience starts with a fun-filled Tuk Tuk ride, taking you through lush rural roads surrounded by rubber plantations and spice gardens.

Next, you’ll transfer to a bull cart, the traditional mode of village transport, for a slow-paced journey through the countryside. This nostalgic ride offers scenic views of village homes, farmlands, and the daily life of Hingula’s residents.

The journey continues with a guided village walk. Stroll past chena farms and observe how locals engage in rubber tapping, an age-old practice unique to the region. Your guide will also take you to a village temple, where you’ll learn about traditional worship practices and the role of spiritual life in the community.

You’ll then arrive at the Hingula Honey Museum, a one-of-a-kind experience where you’ll gain insight into Sri Lankan beekeeping methods. Explore the different types of bees, honey extraction tools, and sample a variety of natural, locally-produced honey.

Next, you’ll be invited to a traditional cooking demonstration led by a village elder. Learn to prepare authentic Sri Lankan dishes using wood-fired clay stoves and fresh ingredients from the garden. You’re welcome to join in and try cooking yourself.

You’ll then enjoy a hearty Sri Lankan lunch, served in true village style. The menu includes rice, local vegetable curries, coconut sambol, dhal, and crispy papadum, all served on banana leaves in a shaded outdoor setting.

The tour concludes with time to relax, take photos, and absorb the serene rural atmosphere. This immersive experience offers a rich blend of local heritage, nature, traditional farming, and culinary culture in the heart of Hingula.
