Hotel Heaven's Edge is located a mere 1.4 km away from the Ella Railway station while transport can be arranged via the hotel with prior notice. The train journey is long but there are air-conditioned carriages with views. However, you can also take the motorway and drive through the winding roads of the Southern border of the central highlands which takes about 5 - 6 hours. You can take the Colombo - Avissawella - Ella road which is about 205km in length. You can also drive from Kandy through Randenigala which is about 133km away.

Ella is famous for mountain climbing and trekking mainly due to its rocky surroundings as well as its networks of caves. The climate is salubrious making these activities much more interesting. There are many jungle areas while you can reach the little Adam's Peak through a number of tea plantations. The adventurers will prefer a walk to the Ella rock which is about 2 hours each way. It is however best to get the hotel to arrange a guide if you do not know the area. There are a number of tea factories that you can visit while bird and butterfly watching as well as biking are some of the leisurely activities that you can enjoy. Other places that you can visit with time in hand is the Ella Gap, the World's End / Horton Plains, Ravana Falls, Diyaluma Falls and Dunhinda Falls along with a number of archaeological sites and temples of historic importance such as Dowa and Maligawila.
