[1] General Terms and Conditions

  1. Price estimate is based on the number of passengers and the destination intimated to our office being at the booking time.
  2. All prices quoted as per the vehicle required by the client and will only accommodate set number of passengers and luggage per vehicle: 2 guests (adults) for car; 6-9 guests (adults) for van.
  3. In the event, the hotel or residence of your location fail to provide accommodation to your chauffeur, an additional charge of USD 20 per day per night is applicable.
  4. Full payment should be made by credit or debit card via our secure payment system in order to confirm the booking.
  5. Full payment must be made 14 days prior to your arrival date, so that availability of your vehicle is guaranteed. Please refer to FAQ page for more details on this payment requirement.
  6. We require advance notification of all oversized luggage, if any, such as surfboards, bikes, since additional arrangements for transportation must be made. Additional charges for such arrangements will be notified to you.
  7. Generally passengers are responsible for loading and unloading their belongings and Lakpura Travels (Pvt.) Ltd. will not accept any liability for loss or damage to the luggage. Our chauffeur will, of course, lend a helping hand with your luggage.
  8. We reserve the right to refuse any passengers under the influence of alcohol or narcotics which could pose a threat to the driver and/or the vehicle.
  9. Passengers are not permitted to consume alcohol and/or smoke on any of our Rent-A-Car vehicles.
  10. Clients are entitled to cancel the reservation by email 72 hours prior to the departure or arrival in accordance to the ‘Cancellation/Refund Policy’ defined below.
  11. The confirmation voucher sent via email is client’s reservation. Please present same to the chauffeur if requested.
  12. In the event of a flight delay we will sit tight awaiting your arrival up to 2 hours free of charge. However, anything beyond 2 hours, will be charged at the rate of USD 5/= per hour starting from the scheduled arrival time.
  13. We strive to carry the passengers with minimum discomfort and inconvenience to the destination shown on the confirmation document. However circumstances beyond our control may hamper our achievement of this responsibility (e.g. delays due to construction of roads).
  14. Passengers agree to be responsible for any damages or extra clean-up costs caused by his/her party willfully or accidently during the service.
  15. On departure at the airport, we would like our guests to make sure the baggage (heavy luggage, travelling bags, hand bags, cameras, tripods, videos, laptops, mobile phones etc.) is collected. Of course, your chauffeur will assist you on this matter.
  16. Your chauffeur, of course makes records of the opening meter reading at the beginning of the day and the closing meter reading at the end of the day in his Vehicle Log Book on daily basis. We would like to have those couple of entries checked and initialized by one the guests of ours.
  17. Payments are accepted in LKR (Sri Lanka Rupees) as well as in hard currencies, i.e. USD – Dollar (USA), GBP – Pound (UK), EUR – Euro (EU), CHF – Franc (Switzerland), CAD – Dollar (Canada), AUD – Dollar (Australia), SGD – Dollar (Singapore) and JPY – Yen (Japan). The currency conversion will be made as per the Rate of Exchange on the day of the Payment. Official Exchange Rates are published on daily basis by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the banker to the state. For your further reference, following is the webpage of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for currency Exchange Rates.
  18. Generally all tours of ours are commissioned on standard toll free roads of National Highway Network, comprising the Trunk (A Class) and Main (B Class) roads. Sri Lanka’s first ever access controlled expressway from Kottawa (Makumbura Interchange: 18km from Colombo, along A0 and B47 roads) to Pinnaduwa Interchange (20km from Galle- A2, B129 roads) called Southern Expressway was opened on 27th of November 2011. Southern Expressway is the one and only expressway in Sri Lanka. In the unlikely event of your chauffer resorts to take to the Southern Expressway, the toll will be borne by Lakpura Travels (Pvt.) Ltd. However if the chauffer takes to the southern Expressway only at the insistence of the guest of ours, expressway toll will be billed to the guest accord

 

[2] Terms and Conditions for the fares quoted for the direct travel between point ‘A’ to point ‘B’

All fares quoted in Rate Card are for the direct travel between point ‘A’ to point ‘B’. As such diversions, time consuming stopovers and extended travel are subjected to additional charges based on following limitations.

  1. Chauffeur is available for a period of 8 hours a day and the duration can be extended to 12 hours a day.
  2. USD 2.75 per hour as chauffeur’s overtime is applicable once the limit of 8 working/stand by hours per day is exceeded.
  3. The client is requested to provide accommodation for chauffeur on location or pay USD 25 per day if the standby stay is outside the city of Colombo.
  4. Should you need the chauffeur be standby by for 24 hours, advance notice needs to be given to our agency at the time of your reservation.
  5. Should such a requirement arise, quite unexpectedly, during your stay in Sri Lanka, please call our office. We would look into the matter in favorable light and advise the chauffeur. This matter is handled on our valued client by client basis in view of our concern on safety of our client, chauffeur and vehicle together with the necessary rest for the chauffeur.
  6. All additional payments that weren’t arranged in advance, prior to the arrival of the guests, such as charges on overtime and the charges on excess mileage etc. need to be paid in cash (hard currency or local currency) to the chauffeur. The chauffeur is unable to accept payments by credit cards.

 

[3] Terms and Conditions for open transportation

  1. Open transportation is subjected to a ceiling of 100km per calendar day.
  2. Mileage is calculated on a cumulative basis for the hire i.e. if the vehicle is hired for 7 days, the client is entitled to 700km during his 7 days of hire the client’s travelled mileage is calculated on garage to garage basis. The garage of Lakpura Travels (Pvt.) Ltd is just passed the city of Ratmalana at Soysapura or just over the entrance to the city of Moratuwa, 16 km south of the city of Colombo, Sri Lanka. (Directions from BIA to Garage in Moratuwa)
  3. Chauffeur is available for a period of 8 hours a day and the duration can be extended to 12 hours a day.
  4. USD 2.75 per hour as chauffeur’s overtime is applicable once the limit of 8 working/stand by hours per day is exceeded.
  5. The client is requested to provide accommodation for chauffeur on location or pay USD 25 per day if the standby stay is outside the city of Colombo.
  6. Should you need the chauffeur be standby by for 24 hours, advance notice needs to be given to our agency at the time of your reservation.

  8. The number of days of hire are calculated on a “calendar day” basis and not on 24 hour cycles.
  9. For Multi Seat Bus, Crew Batta of USD 8 per person per day will apply (Driver and Helper).
  10. Off road activities and Safaris during your stay in Sri Lanka are operated by the tourist board licensed professionals with off road vehicles stationed at such locations, the Nature Reserves and National Wild life Parks in line with the government regulations.

 

[4] Chauffeurs and Licensed Tourist Guides

  1. Of course, our chauffeurs are able to converse in average English with our guests. Nevertheless, the drivers aren’t permitted to take up the role of tourist guides in Sri Lanka as per the regulations by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board.
  2. Licensed National Tourist Guides – Should you need a tourist guide during your tours in Sri Lanka, please let us know. We can let you all have one of our Licensed National Tourist Guides. A ‘National Tourist Guide’ is authorized to accompany and guide the tourists to any of the tourist attractions of Sri Lanka.
  3. An additional charge is involved in hiring a Licensed National Tourist Guide.
  4. Licensed Local Site Guide – Licensed Local Site Guides are available at all the tourist attractions of Sri Lanka. Their involvement is limited to the particular tourist attraction, where they are based. An additional charge is payable in cash by the guest to the site guide at the tourist attraction.

 

[5] Cancellation/Refund Policy

(5.A) Non-Refundable Payments

Upon the confirmation on renting a vehicle, the client is requested to make a Non-Refundable Deposit amounting approximately to 20% of the total daily rent. Once the payment on Non-Refundable Deposit is received at this end, our client will be e-mailed the “Transport Confirmation Voucher”. Concurrently, the vehicle will be reserved for the whole duration required and as such in the event of a cancellation/no-show by our client, under whatsoever reason, no refund is applicable on the Non-Refundable Deposit.

(5.B) Refundable Payments

(5.A) Non-Refundable Payments

Upon the confirmation on renting a vehicle, the client is requested to make a Non-Refundable Deposit amounting approximately to 20% of the total daily rent. Once the payment on Non-Refundable Deposit is received at this end, our client will be e-mailed the “Transport Confirmation Voucher”. Concurrently, the vehicle will be reserved for the whole duration required and as such in the event of a cancellation/no-show by our client, under whatsoever reason, no refund is applicable on the Non-Refundable Deposit.

(5.B) Refundable Payments

All other payments by our client [of course, except above (5.A)] are refundable as follows.

  1. 72 hrs prior to arrival or departure – 60% refund.
  2. Less than 48 hrs from the scheduled time – 50% refund.
  3. Less than 24 hrs from scheduled time and/or at the pickup location – No refund.
  4. No show – No refund.

Tracking & Cookies Data

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our Service and hold certain information.

Payments

We provide a paid service as such we use third-party services for payment processing (e.g. payment processors).

We will not store or collect your payment card details. That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy. These payment processors adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of payment information.
