So cool. 210 feet (64 m) high, it gets its name from the “smoky dew drops” spray below – “Dun” in Sinhala means mist or smoke which surrounds the area at the foot of the waterfall. The fall’s source is the river Badulu Oya which meanders through Badulla town. Below Dunhinda there are three major dams: Randenigala, Rantambe and Victoria. They generate most of Sri Lanka’s electricity. Your guide will be picking you up in a 4WD safari jeep and driving you to your first destination - the famous Lipton’s Seat. It is suggested that you wear hike-friendly gear with proper hiking boots, and take a sweater as the temperatures can be quite chilly. If you did not have an early breakfast, you can bring a packed breakfast to have on your way there.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou will need to hike over 3.5 km along little foot trails, through beautiful rich green tea plantations, to reach Lipton's Seat. You will be able to see occasional tea pluckers or little huts where they rest. You will reach the viewpoint after about an hour. It gains its name from Sir Thomas Lipton, the famous tea planter who began the Lipton’s Ceylonta Tea company; and used this location to survey his expanding tea empire over a century ago. The viewpoint gives a broad and clear panoramic view of the Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and Eastern provinces. One of the more hilarious and iconic aspects of the viewpoint is the statue of Sir Lipton seated on a bench with a cup of tea, that you will find there. You can take a photo together. There’s also a little shop promoting the Lipton Ceylonta brand of tea, and you can buy a small pack if you wish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn your way down from the viewpoint you will be stopping by the St Catherine’s Seat viewpoint. It offers a stunning view of Bandarawela, Diyatalawa and the Uva valley. After taking a few photographs here, you will be making your way down. As your final destination you will be driving to Pilkington Point another place with one of the best views on the island. Named after the Managing Director of the Poonagala Valley Co. Ltd., this viewpoint is located over 4600 feet above sea level. This ensures that it gives spectacular views of the rolling plains to the East and South of Sri Lanka. With plains covered in patna grass and interspersed with small patches of forest and low brush, the park is home to many hundreds of species of flora and fauna. Some of the species most anticipated by visitors are the sambur, monkeys and rare leopards. You will also be able to observe an impressive number of birds life, including some endemic species. Not to be forgotten are the flocks of rare butterflies that call the place home, along with other insect life. You will be driving through the park for an hour or so, before traveling to World’s End.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis most dramatic feature of the park requires you to hike to it for a short distance. You will then find yourself on a plateau that ends abruptly, dropping sharply for over a kilometer; hence giving it its name. The plateau gives you an almost 360-degree view of the most magnificent vistas. After spending some time here taking photographs and meditating too if you wish; you will be doing the return hike back to your jeep. Then your guide will take you to a suitable place for a picnic lunch. You can enjoy your meal in full view of the beautiful plains.
