Uppuveli

Uppuveli is a gold sand coastal resort town of the Trincomalee District, Sri Lanka located in the suburb of Sambalativu, 6 km northwest of the city of Trincomalee. A historically popular tourist destination of the island alongside the nearby Nilaveli, the numbers of visitors declined following the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and Sri Lankan Civil War, but have risen again since 2010. It is home to the Sri Muthumariamman Kovil on its coast.

The main attraction in Uppuveli is undoubtedly its beach. Stretching for several kilometers, the Uppuveli Beach is lined with swaying palm trees and features soft golden sands and warm, shallow waters that are ideal for swimming and sunbathing. The beachfront is relatively undeveloped, preserving a sense of unspoiled beauty and providing a perfect backdrop for a peaceful day by the sea.

Om Trincomalee-distriktet

Trincomalee är en hamnstad på Sri Lankas östkust. Om Östra provinsen

Östra provinsen är en av Sri Lankas 9 provinser. Provinserna har funnits sedan 1800-talet men de hade ingen juridisk status förrän 1987 då det 13:e tillägget till Sri Lankas konstitution från 1978 inrättade provinsråd. Mellan 1988 och 2006 slogs provinsen tillfälligt samman med norra provinsen för att bilda nordöstra provinsen. Provinsens huvudstad är Trincomalee. Östra provinsens befolkning var 1 460 939 år 2007. Östra provinsen har en yta på 9 996 kvadratkilometer. Provinsen är omgiven av norra provinsen i norr, Bengaliska viken i öster, södra provinsen i söder och provinserna Uva, Central och North Central i väster. Provinsens kust domineras av laguner, varav de största är Batticaloa-lagunen, Kokkilai-lagunen, Upaar-lagunen och Ullackalie-lagunen.
